Fun, Fish, and Fair Winds in the Salty Dawg Spring Rally to the US

Details for the 2021 Rallies coming soon!

With the effects of the spreading novel coronavirus, there is much uncertainty in the Caribbean. To help the sailing community, we’re planning an informal flotilla to the U.S. from the Caribbean. The Homeward Bound Flotilla will depart from Antigua and the US Virgin Islands, or other islands where vessels are located, with weekly departures between April 5 and May 10, 2020. The Spring Rally has been cancelled, but boats who had registered for the Spring Rally will be invited to participate in the Homeward Bound Flotilla. Click here for details.

You can look forward to the return of the Salty Dawg Spring Rally to the US in 2021. Plans are for the rally to depart the British Virgin Islands in May 2021. It is an offshore passage in company of other boats, usually a fleet of 25 to 35 boats of many nationalities. The destinations are various ports on the East Coast of the US or to Bermuda.

An array of fun, social events occur in the BVI before departure, and in Hampton, VA for those boats that make landfall there. Also, excursions to fascinating maritime museums and historical sites near Hampton, VA are planned.

The Rally includes weather routing, position tracking, and an extensive level of coordination and support during the offshore passage. All Salty Dawg rallies and events are led by seasoned sailors who volunteer their time and knowledge to help cruisers realize their dreams.

With the worldwide attention and concerns about coronavirus, all captains should consider safe measures in every port visited. In addition, some countries are limiting or restricting entry. The SDSA highly recommends captains check for country updates at Noonsite.com, other relevant sources, and governmental sources. Due to the ever changing health concerns, we are not providing country or island specific updates. Read updated and detailed information here.
